My sister was googling looking for something else and ran across this. It has been over 18 months since our rescue was raided and several months since the court case was finalized. Yet some people can not just let it go. The situation was horrific enough as it was in truth but to post lies to make it seem even worse than it was?? What is the use? Well, I am so very sick of it and I have never said my piece or defended myself so here goes. I am going to tear this stupid blog by an unknowing smart aleck PETA lover.

Hoarder Forces Dogs to Live With Dead Bodies

Confined to barren, muddy pens with no protection from the elements, no food, and no water, the nearly 70 dogs owned by Cajun Country "Ranch and Animal Rescue" in Wilburton, Oklahoma, were struggling to survive. Their skin was stretched tightly over their rib cages, and fleas and ticks had ravaged their bodies. The horses on the property fared no better, their bones clearly visible. The bones of dead dogs lay piled up like leaves, and more bones were scattered throughout the property.
When PETA received a tip-off, we alerted local officials, who told us that they shared our concerns. One of our contacts in the area was an expert on hoarding situations, and after he surveyed the property for us, he confirmed our fears about the "rescue."
The next day, armed with a warrant, police raided the property and arrested the owners, Anne Marie and Shane Duhon. According to news reports when police entered the couple's home, they found three children living in squalor. Animal feces covered the house, including the children's beds, and cockroaches crawled across the littered floor. Reportedly, the children were covered with bites from fleas, ticks, and other insects. While the Department ofHuman Services took the children to a safe location, a multitude of volunteers, mobilized by PETA supporters in the area, came in with horse trailers and kennels and moved all the animals to awaiting reputable rescues and animal shelters.
Some of the animals were so far gone that they needed to be euthanized. At trial, the Duhonspleaded guilty to child neglect and cruelty-to-animals charges. They were put on probation for five years, banned from having any animals during that time, and told that if they violated the terms of their probation, they could face prison time.
While animal hoarding behavior stems from a desire to "save" animals, hoarders' mental illness causes them to keep amassing animals, and well-meaning people encourage hoarders by giving them animals and/or money. They end up with far more animals than they are capable of caring for—with disastrous, deadly consequences for their victims. If you suspect that a local "rescue" is actually a hoarder, alert animal control or PETA immediately.

Lie #1
- Confined to barren, muddy pens with no protection from the elements, no food, and no water
This is the picture copied directly from the article Take a good look at this picture!
Lie #1 muddy pens no food water or shelter
Okay this one is exactly the same picture that I put comments on. That pretty much takes care of muddy pens (it was 100 degrees+ and had not rained in weeks) no shelter and no food. More on the no food and water coming up!
Lie #2 "struggling to survive. Their skin was stretched tightly over their rib cages, and fleas and ticks had ravaged their bodies."
Does this look like struggling to survive walking skin and bones?
Food and water bowls can be seen and water trough has water in it.

Lie # 3 The horses on the property fared no better,
Yes we did have a nursing mare who had dropped a lot of weight but we were working on her and her baby (while in the care of the so called "rescuers"' the foal died) As to the other horses again the pictures posted were taken the day of the raid. This is Chicota She was given to the rescue when her owner decided they no longer wanted her and the other two horses they had. One of the other horses died the day she arrived at the rescue and the other horse was adopted out.
This was Chip. He was my son, Paul's, horse. We got him when Chip was 18 months old in Carencro, La from an auction barn. We trained him to ride and pull. We used him to give pony rides in our petting zoo in La and here in Ok he helped us build our house by pulling in the logs for the cabin from the back woods. Chip was very much loved and is very much missed by all of us.
More about the alleged no food or water
This is the feed room. This picture was again taken by the people taking the animals
LIE #4 The bones of dead dogs lay piled up like leaves, and more bones were scattered throughout the property.
Here you go. Pic of the notorious pile of bones! These bones were too large to be dog bones and it can be seen that they were cut/sawn on the ends. We fed the dogs raw meaty bones from a local slaughter house.
More of the notorious bones!
this is a PIG skull!
LIE # 5 When PETA received a tip-off, we alerted local officials, who told us that they shared our concerns. One of our contacts in the area was an expert on hoarding situations, and after he surveyed the property for us, he confirmed our fears about the "rescue."
PETA was called but from information gathered and court records, PETA did nothing. The groups involved in this raid were PAWS of Wilburton, Tulsa SPCA, Clayton Animal Welfare and Wilburton animal shelter. NO PETA. The so called "expert' trespassed to take pictures, set up the pictures by bringing sick dogs to the property and leaving them there and lying in the report given to the police.
More lies

First the "expert" came on the 24th and the raid was done on the 29th not the next day.
The children were NOT in the home at the time of our arrest they were with their adult sister. The house was not a mess The pictures that were taken were taken days after we were arrested. There were no pictures taken to substantiate the allegations of feces on the bed or anything else/\
Doctors reports DID NOT say anything about the children being covered with bites of any sort.
Again PETA had nothing to do with mobilizing anyone.

And still more lies! Some of the animals were so far gone that they needed to be euthanized!
They said some of the animals were so sick that they had to be killed while still at my house? Do these dogs look like they needed to be killed?
This dog was Joy who was alive in an earlier pic above of the kitchen

Other dead dogs
This is Sattler alive.
As to the rest of the article. We did not go to trial. We took an Alford plea (that is saying that we DO NOT admit any guilt but feel that the state would convict us if we went to trial) to be sure that we were not sent back to jail and hurt our children that have been back home with us since January 2012. WE DO NOT BELIEVE WE ARE GUILTY! We did everything within our power and means to care for the animals and when things got too much we did reach out to other rescues and this is what we got!
The only mental illness involved in this case was the mental illness on the part of the woman whose stated goal was to destroy me in any way possible. Our case has changed nothing in this county. There has been NO arrests or citations given for animal abuse besides ours. I know of several reported abuse cases reported to the local sheriff and NOTHING was done.
